Faint embossed stamp on title; a very good copy. The Jesuit, Abbé Deidier (1696-1746), professor of mathematics in the École Militairie at La Fére, published a number of treatises on mathematical and mechanical subjects which led to his reputation as a distinguished mathematician of his day. Following the methods of Wallis, Deidier applies algebra to the indivisibles of Cavallerius to obtain a measure of surfaces and solids. This work received the approbation of the Abbé de Molieres and Gamaches on behalf of the Royal Academy of Sciences (Paris). Poggendorff I.537. Not in Roller & Goodman.
