First Edition. Octavo, viii, 387pp. Maroon cloth, title in gilt on cover and spine. First edition with Scribner's A on copyright page. Few spots along top edge of text block, otherwise a fine copy. In publishers dust jacket, $3.00 on front flap, light wear along top edge, some toning to spine, an excellent example. Inscribed by Henry H. Curran to Irena Wyckoff, the secretary of Maxwell Perkins of Scribner's publishing. Inscription reads: "For Irena Wyckoff, since Irena won, from Henry H. Curran. April 1941." The recipient of this book, Irena Wyckoff, was the secretary for Max Perkins. Perkins is credited with discovering some of the most influential authors of the 20th Century, including F. Scott Fitzgerald, Majorie Kinnan Rawlings, Thomas Wolfe and Ernest Hemingway.
