Dabei lässt sich ihre Idee direkt auf spätantike und frühchristliche Theorien und Praktiken zurückführen; es handelt sich also im wörtlichen Sinne um Entwürfe all'antica. Dessen gekonnter Selbstinszenierung hat die Forschung in jüngster Zeit zunehmende Aufmerksamkeit geschenkt. Im Lichte neuerer Erkenntnisse wird das im privaten Teil seines Herzogspalastes liegende Raumpaar in dieser Arbeit erstmals einer vom Objekt ausgehenden monographischen Untersuchung unterzogen.
