Struck by their high level of agreement on the Jewish Question, it occurred to him that upon his return to civil life he should write a book giving both of their views and possibly suggesting the best grounds for a common understanding. When the time came to write this book, the assistance of Joseph Leftwich was sought to flesh out the Jewish standpoint. The result is this book. "A.K.
