Sovraccoperta con strappi e piccole mancanze, ornata di etichetta della Libreria Casanova sul dorso; internamente qualche arrossamento ma completo e ben conservato. Prima edizione francese, tradotta da Émile Gaillard e A. De Gruchy, del resoconto della spedizione inglese del 1922, prima a tentare espressamente la scalata alla vetta dell?Everest dopo la ricognizione di Charles Howard-Bury dell?anno precedente. Charles Bruce, alpinista esperto e militare di carriera in India, presidente dell?Alpine Club dal 1923 al 1925, fu a capo di questo tentativo che vide la partecipazione, come il precedente e il successivo del 1924, di George Mallory. La spedizione fu la prima ad utilizzare bombole d?ossigeno, e si concluse senza successo col terzo sfortunato assalto alla cima, interrotto dopo una tragica valanga in cui trovarono la morte sette portatori. Pur senza raggiungere l?obiettivo, gli inglesi toccarono la più alta quota mai raggiunta (8326 metri, record battuto dalla terza missione britannica, diretta da Bruce nel 1924).
