The head of the spine is creased. The dust jacket is rubbed & chipped with light soiling to its rear panel. The front panel is nearly detached and a long tear to the spine & 2 tears to the inner edge of the rear panel have been partially repaired internally with scotch tape. 95 & [1] pages. Full-page & textual illustrations in black & white after wood engravings by various artists. The top edges of the pastedowns are slightly bubbled & there is very light rippling to the top edges of the pages. A small label is affixed to the top corner of the front pastedown. Very good in a fair dust wrapper. First edition. "How to Do It Series" Number 46.

This story was first published in The Court and Society Review, in late 1887. The main character, Lord Arthur Savile, is introduced by Lady Windermere to Mr Septimus R. Podgers, a chiromantist, who reads his palm and tells him that it is his destiny to be a murderer. Lord Arthur wants to marry, but decides he has no right to do so until he has committed the murder. Spine mildly soiled, otherwise the volume is in perfect, pristine condition, unmarked, unread, tight, square, and clean. The pale blue slipcase is worn and splitting along one edge. VERY GOOD. .
