Publisher: Minerva Auckland, 1967, Second Revised Edition. Hardback with jacket, very good condition, no inscriptions. Jacket is rubbed and chipped at edges. 208 pages, illustrated. Everyone who either drinks or does not drink should read this hard hitting book. A serious study of the social havoc wrought in New Zealand. This is the cover of the revised 1967 edition of Conrad Bollinger's searing attack on the alcohol laws and the liquor industry, Grog's own country. When it was first published, in 1959, Bollinger had been working for a trade union, the Public Service Association. He was also active in many left-wing movements. Later he became a lecturer in English at Victoria University of Wellington which provided him, like other critics, with a secure basis from which to criticise social norms.
