And my personal feelings about how wise we were to go to war last time for ideals unrealized and how wise we would be this time, save in defense of our country, are still too mixed up and uncertain.But I am honest enough to know that I can't turn em out unless I feel em.".

No binding & hard cover. Condition: Good. Faith Baldwin was a U.S. author of romance and fiction, publishing some 100 novels, often concentrating on women. The New York Times wrote that her books had "never a pretense at literary significance" and were popular because they "enabled lonely working people, young and old, to identify with her glamorous and wealthy characters.The collection has 17 item dating from 1913 to 1971, specifically 8 cards, 3 letters, 2 photos, 1 typescript, 1 designed custom postal order, and 2 books.3 Letters:â ¢ ALS to Gladys Balder (?), 6 January ?, re the Sea Island "is a dream of Beauty", cannot go there during the winter, Isaac Wick was there last year. â ¢ TLS from Maxwell Droke Publishers, 29 December 1937, re her favorite anecdote; ALS reply on verso from Baldwin re an amusing story about Fannie Hurst living in Brooklyn, having four children, and spending "money like a drunken sailor". 1 Signed Typescript:â ¢ Signed ts., "Any Village", 1 p., n.d. but circa 1971 when the book by this title was published.2 Books signed and one with poem:â ¢ George Middleton, Tradition and Other One-Act Plays.
