Hardcover. Condition: Good. 1st Edition. Red cloth with pasted paper title. Light fray to head and heel of spine, tips of corners rubbed to boards, spine label is heavily chipped. This is an ex-library book with vintage Presentation label to front pastedown, card pocket to rear pastedown, due-slip to reverse of rear endpaper, page 7 has slipped free of the stitched binding and is tucked in place, but front edge of this page shows edgewear from being exposed at front edge of book. Perforated library stamp to title page. Text is overall clean and bright, but does show the occasional spot or thumb smudge, as one would expect of a library book of this age. Stitched binding is weak but not broken. Wonderful deco chapter headers.

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. First Edition. Only date found in book is at the end. 1892 hardcover in burgundy cloth covered boards that are ruled to appear quarterbound. Shows bumped spine ends, fairly sharp tips and bright author's gilt signature on center of both front and rear boards. Adhesive sticker near head of frt gutter is a handwritten call tag for shelf placement. No card pocket or evidence of ever having had one. All pages are present. Could have been from the private library at the American Humane offices in Boston. Book is numbered in two sections. First autobiographical part is 114 pp long, the Appendix in the rear, of a brief sketch of the author which appeared in various Humane Journals from 1876 to 1879. There is a presentation plate affixed to the inside cover stating: Presented to The President of Griswold College, Davenport Iowa by the American Humane Education Society 10 Milk St. Boston. Also a hand written 5 digit number is written at the head of the first blank endpaper with a few tiny dots having bled onto the opposing frt pastedown. The text is soft and creamy, not browned and brittle. Spine title reads: Geo T. Angell's Autobiography.
