Very good, used condition. Covers show minor rubbing. Both fold out maps are in good condition. Text block is clean save a prior owner s name rubber-stamped on title page along with some seller s pencilled notations. 210 acre Damariscove Island, now a preserve of the Boothbay Region Land Trust, lies within the town of Boothbay Harbor. Carl R. Griffin III began to write the story of Alberta Poole Rowe s early years on Damariscove Island. Alaric Faulkner, involved in an archeological study of the island, pooled his resources with Griffin supported by many old family photographs made by the extended Poole family. This later developed into a social history of the island. Once a populated island, bustling fishing community, and resort destination, the reminisces cover the early decades of the 20th century. The book is illustrated with many interesting historical photos and two detailed, pull out maps. A testament to oral history and the value of an Anthropology Department.
