Winston Churchill digital archive goes live

Almost a million personal documents belonging to Winston Churchill are now available following the launch of the Churchill Archive Online at the Frankfurt Book Fair.  The digital archive has been assembled by Bloomsbury Academic along with the Sir Winston Churchill Archive Trust, Churchill Heritage and the literary agency Curtis Brown.

Letters and documents, including personal correspondence with his family and official letters to world leaders and royalty can be viewed.

His school reports, invoices and receipts for purchases – including his home Chartwell, his motor cars and his cigars – are all viewable to users of this landmark site. And the genesis of his famous speeches can be traced across their many original drafts.

Funnily enough, our latest feature – The Author Who Saved Britain – concerns Winston Churchill and his writing.
