I'm Jack Cameron. Welcome to my Author’s Page.
I'm a retired lawyer living on California's Central Coast with my wife and two cats. I always imagined having a law practice in a small town like Sea Cliff, the setting for my new murder mystery, The Storm Drain Murder.
I graduated from law school in the tumultuous 1970s (Viet Nam, Watergate, the oil crisis, the inflation crisis, the hostage crisis). Like many young people of the day, I was restless and practiced law in the Midwest and East before settling in California. These experiences - the people I knew, the places I lived, and the cases I tried - become part of the stories I write today.
I spent my career writing to address the crisis or issue of the moment. I always promised myself that I'd join a creative writing group someday, so I joined the Rough Writers of the Central Coast when I retired. Now, I write what I want, primarily mysteries and short stortes. I have a passion for telling intriguing stories that create a mood. Writers' Digest says I succeeded in The Storm Drain Murder: "This story lingered on my mind for days ....A timeless book that leaves an impression." Kirkus Reviews' verdict: "Get it!"
