ZIA UDDIN AHMED

Born, in 1933, in district Gaya, India, where the great Budha achieved enlightenment, Zia Uddin Ahmed received his education in India, Pakistan and the United States, acquiring degrees of M.A. in English from Government College Lahore, and MBA from University of Southern California. He worked as a civil servant in Pakistan and for the United Nations. Currently retired after living in six countries, he and Rashida, his wife, live in Maryland in the eastern United States.

The author offers up his life's journey in a trio of phases , from the early years in India with his parents and extended family, to college life and subsequent work as civil servant in Pakistan, then on to a third span highlighting travel abroad, and a career as international civil servant. Each segment is characteristically infused with the author's personal account of events of the time, and rendered with a keen eye for the geographic, historic, and cultural surroundings. The final result is a fluid memoir that depicts a remarkable life truly enriched by its connective experiences.
