Antique print, titled: 'Rex iuvenum suasu populis gravioria minatur [.].' - King Rechabeam answering questions. This edition was printed around 1700, based on the watermark by the Publisher Nicolaes Visscher II (1649-1702). The set is usually published as "Groote Figuer-bijbel"or "Theatrum Biblicum". The Visscher family published these already antique plates from 1649 on. Theatrum Biblicum. Engraving on Laid paper. Watermark: Coat of arms of Amsterdam with a lower beam. Made by 'Hans Collaert' after 'Ambrosius Francken'. Hans / Jan Collaert the Elder (ca. 1530-1581) was part the engravers family Collaert in Antwerp. Ambrosius Francken (1544-1618) was a Flemish painter, mainly of religious subject matter. Very good, given age. Large margins. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully. The overall size is ca. 36.3 x 31.6 cm. The image size is ca. 30 x 20.8 cm.
