Louise Françoise de La Baume Le Blanc, Duchess of La Vallière was the first mistress of Louis XIV of France between 1661 and 1667. Published in the set "Galerie Universelle des hommes ." between 1787-1789. Duchesse de la Valliere. Mezzotint on laid paper. Made by 'J. L. Benoist' after 'Pierre Mignard'. J. L. Benoist was active around 1790-1820. Pierre Mignard (1612-1695) worked as a portrait- and history painter. He was a rival to Charles le Brun. Good, given age. Ample margins, some browning. A small tear in right margin, not affecting image. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully. The overall size is ca. 20 x 26 cm.
