We offer a pair of original St. Memin mezzotint and engraved portraits of NY Governor and fourth Vice President of the United States George Clinton and his wife Cornelia Tappen Clinton. Both are bust-up profiles and are signed in the plate: "St. Memin N. Pine St. N. York." Charles Balthazar Julien Fevret de Saint-Memin (1770-1852), French artist and museum director, lived in the U.S. from 1793 to 1814 during which time he created portraits of prominent Americans including these, as well as, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, John Marshall, etc. Circular images are 2 3/16" in diameter. Condition: Both are trimmed to 2 1/2" in diameter and show mounting evidence on verso, otherwise good condition. Seller Inventory # PR00571
