About this Item
First printed in 1908; this is, I assume, a 1911 edition (see below and accompanying image). 114 plates engraved by Butterworth of Leeds with a page of text accompanying each plate. A knowledgeable and comprehensive manual produced by Darcy Lever with the intention to inform and assist young gentlemen of The Royal Navy in the early 19th century. Condition: Good. The boards are quite worn, the corners rubbed, and the spine has been repaired. The end papers have been replaced thus securing the binding. The frontispiece is missing - I have gauged the date of publication from the author's prologue. Pages have historical repairs; all are tanned, foxed, marked in small ways and occasionally annotated. All are watermarked. So a well used book that looks like it might actually have been used by a seaman onboard ship. Seller Inventory # 001060
