Paper Wraps. Very Good. 18mo, 16 Pp. c1892, 18mo (4 1/2 x 6 1/4 in - 11.5 x 16 cm), illustrated printed wraps, string tied, 16 pp. This is a complementary souvenir by the Yellowstone Park Transportation Company. There is a whimsical poem where by Dr. William Todd Helmuth relates how the devil created Yellowstone Park for his amusement but it is taken from him by the "Stripes and Stars" and christened "The Yellowstone National Park." Dr. Helmuth was a well know medical writer and poet. The are 7 halftone photographs by the famous western photographer, F. Jay Hayes, with the following scene; Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel, Minerva Terrace, Golden Gate, Oblong Geyser, The Paint Pot, Yellowstone Falls and Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone. Additionally there are a total of 21 wood engraved sketches/vignettes by John T. McCutcheon. With the exception of the illustrated cover, all the photographs and sketches are black and white. The approximate date of the item is arrived out by the date at the end of Helmuth's poetry which is August 7, 1892. Seller Inventory # 1892031128
