Octavo. (v) 640pp. + 12 plates of albumen prints, and an additional photo-illustrated title page. Dark blue leather boards, with gilt stamped design on the front cover, and gilt lettering on the spine. All edges gilt. Beautifully decorated endpapers and dentelles in gilt. The book is a photo illustrated edition of the collected works of Tennyson up until that point, printed in a two column format. The publication took the text from the 1885 Macmillan edition of the collected works (title page included), and added 13 albumen prints (including a frontispiece, landscape scenes, some photos after engraved portraits, and an additional new photo-illustrated title page) by British photographer Payne Jennings. Binding with spine sunned, and some light rubbing along edges and to spine. Covers with a few smudges. Interior with starting at gutter of interior front cover. Light foxing to front endpapers, frontispiece portrait plate and photo-illustrated title page (images unaffected). Offsetting from the portrait opposite p. 48. Book Block fairly tight overall.
