Synopsis: This 128 page soft covered book is a well documented and illustrated summary of the early years of the Luther Gulick Camps, now called Camp Wohelo. The camp is over 100 years old, and was the birthplace of the Camp Fire Girls. The many black and white photographs, camp logos, songs and illustrations bring to life the adventures of early camping days. It is an interesting addition to the history of camping in Maine and also a book of memories by past campers and counselors.
About the Author: Charlotte Gulick Hewson spent much of her youth at Camp Wohelo and still lives nearby. She directed at Wohelo for many years, as did her daughter Evelyn. She enjoys hiking all over the place and spending time with her husband Roger and her children and their families. We are all looking forward to the next installment of this Wohelo book, which she is currently working on.
