About this Item
2nd printing hardcover in red cloth covered boards with a touch of 'splotchyness' at head, black spine title, author name and publisher, frt cover has the words Wild Horses in a black title box, ruled in red. Spine ends and corners bumped and lightly rubbed. One faint ink name at head of frt pastedown, inner hinges fine, no foxing on endpprs or pastedowns. 272 pp text is amazingly clean, tight and bright for a 1934 Grosset & Dunlap offering. DJ is another matter, The spine panel is completely gone, the front and rear panels are there with chips at periphery as are both dj flaps. Mostly there but not pretty. DJ is super rare in any condition and the insisde is loaded with listings for other books. Not exlib, no tears or soil. Miss Percival, a pretty girl from Chicago, thought she could flirt with Johnny Trent. She coveted a certain wild gray stallion, an outlaw of the high meadows. And Johnny "cal'lated" that if he could catch this horse for her, she would undoubtedly marry him. The story starts in a clatter of wild hoofs and the tempest of true love, frustrated but determined. It works through to the end with power and with what is rare in western novels, a fine poetic passion. Through the whole story one is conscious of the beauty of the Arizona desert, shimmering spires of mesas, squat mass of buttes, and the painted wonder of the canyons. Seller Inventory # R46413
