8 5/8" x 9 3/8", unpaginated. Actually a very nice copy of this scarce Aldin title: internally excellent, with all plates in perfect condition and only minor finger soiling to some pages; the front board remains attractive [see photo] with only moderate wear to the edges, save for the two corners which are worn, and the back is about Good with edgewear and a an old moisture stain near the heel. Both endpaper gutters have given way and either hinge tape or recasement (endpapers replaced) is necessary; the light teal endpapers are have no writing and are relatively clean. The backstrip is of light olive fabric which somewhat resembles repair tape but I believe this is probably original since the edges underlap the the front and back board paper and illustration. This is the 1909 edition with title page printed in black and red and the book printed by Thomas Forman & sons, Nottingham, England. The color plates are in wonderful condition.
