This 7.125 x 9.5 inch, 382 page hardcover book is the assumed first edition of this title in 1911. This copy is in near fine condition with very little age wear showing to the the blue cloth covers with large color illustration, with large lettering pasted to the front cover surrounded by black design. The spine features gilt lettering and design. The corners show just the slightest touch of wear. The interior text block is still solidly bound with the pages clean and with the only condition issue to mention being the first ten pages showing a slight bump to the top corners - - after which the bump does not show. This copy has the black-and-white frontispiece that matches the color front cover illustration, and the copyright page indicates a 1911 copyright with the statement ?Published October 191?? - - with that last digit somewhat blurred and imperfect but probably 1911. This treatment of the era of knighthood features chapters on ?Page, Squire, and Knight,? ?The Knights Arms and Armor,? with subsequent chapters on jousting and tournaments, the process of laying siege to a castle, daily life in a castle, pilgrimages and crusades, and much more.
