Dark brown, flexible cloth covers with gilt titling and designs, and embossed Cross design on the front cover. Fading to gilt stamping, light, age-related tanning to paper, some lower margins (pp. 10-13) show trimming of page numbers, words. Inscribed by Episcopal Archdeacon, Vine Deloria (Senior), father of American Indian historian & activist, Vine Deloria, Jr., on the front endpaper, to Cleveland, Ohio based rare book collector, William G. Mather (1857-1951): "Presented to Mr. William G. Mather on the occasion of the dedication of Saint Katherine's Chapel Martin, South Dakota. October 13, 1940.
