Some spotting of flyleaves and edges, but otherwise a very good copy. 1943 gift inscription on first free endpaper. Illustrated by drawings, including title page vignette. A collection of humorous poems, which includes The Rolling English Road, first published in 1915 and many times reprinted. 'This little volume is chiefly composed of the rollicking, Bacchanalian and ironical songs' from the author's novel, Flying Inn (1914), a fantasy set in an England dominated by temperance reform. G. K. Chesterton (1874-1936) was a prolific poet and novelist, creator of the priest Detective, Father Brown and Catholic lay theologian. This is the first illustrated edition, by W. A.
