A Near Fine tight copy with a touch of edge wear to the spine. Blue cloth binding with gold stamped lettering on front board and spine. 397 pages with 48 plates, with two folding maps; the rear map has been repaired. Stuck was born in London, England in 1863 and died in 1920. He was an American missionary and explorer, who emigrated to the United States in 1885, graduated from the University of the South (1892), and was dean (18941904) of the Episcopal cathedral at Dallas, Texas. In 1905 he became archdeacon of the Yukon and spent the remainder of his life in Alaska. With three companions he accomplished the first ascent (1913) of Mt. McKinley, and he traveled extensively in Alaska writing comprehensive accounts of his explorations. Bookseller Inventory # 23259
