An account of William Baffin's five recorded voyages including a Discourse as to a North-West Passage. Previous owner's signature - "H.W. Gore Booth, Yacht Kara" of Lissadell House, Co. Sligo, Ireland on top of title page. Sir Henry Gore Booth was a renowned arctic explorer and this volume formed part of the library he kept on board. Musty smell from book. Text clean. Binding tight. Yellow eps. Bound in blue cloth boards of the Hakluyt Society with gilt lettering on spines. Cloth section of about 1.5 inches at top of spine almost detached. Rear edge of spine split along two thirds of length and front edge of spine split for about 3 inches at top and half inch at bottom. Boards damp-stained. Gilt vignette of the sailing ship 'Victoria' on front covers. Blindstamp decoration on boards. Top and bottom of spine and corners rubbed. Overall condition Good+. Bookseller Inventory # 6375
