Hardcover, 238 pp.; 28 cm; text in Spanish; illustrated throughout with black-and-white line drawings by Marjorie Gallop, including musical notation of Basque folk songs. Spanish translation by Isabel Gil de Ramales of Rodney Gallop's "A Book of the Basques" (London, 1930). Printed in Spain by Gráficas Ultra, S. A., Madrid. In Very Good condition, no dust jacket. Pale yellow cloth-covered boards with bold black folk-art decorative designs on front and rear (stylized trees-of-life with diamond, star, and cross motifs) and titling stamped in black on spine ("RODNEY GALLOP / LOS VASCOS"); mild shelf wear with some toning to the spine and light edge wear to corners. Binding tight. Small oval green Editorial Aramburu, Pamplona bookseller's sticker on front pastedown; pages toned but otherwise unmarked. A handsome Spanish edition of Rodney Gallop's classic study of the Basques, drawing on extensive fieldwork in both the French and Spanish Basque country and treating the language, literature, music, dance, architecture, decoration, sport, folklore, and superstitions of the region.
