The leading American figure in human and comparative embryology in his day, Minot (1852-1914) is also well known for his invention (1886) of the automatic rotary microtome which he used for sectioning vertebrate embryos. This important study on the structure of the fetal envelopes was an outcome of Minot's preparation of his 'Treatise on Human Embryology' (1892). Pages 438-452 are a 'Preliminary bibliography of works and articles specially relating to the foetal envelopes of mammals, exclusive of general works'. The detailed lithographs were prepared with a camera lucida by E. Stanley Abbot under Minot's supervision. Not in Blocker Coll. Bookseller Inventory # 000515
