About this Item
Green w/pasted paper label to slightly darkened spines. Volume II shows hint of a warp to rear board, causing the book to not quite close tightly. Minor wear head and heel of spine, corners very slightly rubbed. Small hole at heel of spine Vol II. Titles have faded completely from labels, and there is rubbing to edges, soil to label of Vol. I. Top edge gilt. Lovely rough cut edge. A large number of the pages have never been cut. Sadly, this book has been remainder marked with a red marker, top and bottom outside edges. Does not effect text. Lovely two-color title pages, Illustrated with beautiful photogravures on Japan vellum, etchings hand painted India-plate reproductions, all with labeled tissue guards. Frontis and two other illustrations Vol I, Frontis and one illustration Vol II. Text is clean and tight, no marks, lightly and evenly toned. Edited by William Bray.
