About this Item
The book has been profesionally rebound and the report can be sent as a scan. The binder has replaced the spine strip, retaining the original as a paste on; the end papers are new. Internally the book is in very good condition, with minor intermittent foxing. Includes black and white sketches interspersed throughout the text and 7 plates. As there is no index of illustrations, there may have been more. The fold out map is missing and the edges of the plate facing page 224, a sketch of Limestone Island, has been repaired as has a tear on page 198, both using acid free tape, and neither affecting the print. And finally there's an ownership inscription on the verso of the frontispiece and a mathematical equation crossed out in purple and a gift inscription on the title page. 'First edition, covering Sir Allen Young's 1875 attempt to navigate the Northwest Passage and sledging during the 1857-59 McClintock expedition.'. Seller Inventory # 014883
