Only edition of this manual describing the portable press of Charles Philibert de Lasteyrie (1759-1849). He created the first lithography establishment in France, bringing back from his travels this invention of the German Aloys Senefelder. He presents here his portable economic printing machine, a simple and not very bulky device, accessible to all. "The Lasteyrie establishment was the nursery from which came out most of the lithographers who distinguished themselves in their art and who did not contribute little to make many progresses to lithography." (Langlumé). This book is illustrated with 4 plates. 3 are in lithography. The fourth is a portrait of the physician Tissot engraved on copper. It is here only inserted in the volume and it is smaller than the other engravings. This portrait has been added in all copies of this booklet for some reason, unknown to us because the text does not refer to it. Copy as issued, complete with the page marked 1 bis, in its original wrappers. Spine is missing. Bigmore & Wyman, A Bibliography of Printing I, 422, gives only 3 plates. 8vo. Il présente ici son imprimerie économique portable, un appareil simple et peu volumineux, accessible à tous. "L'établissement Lasteyrie a été la pépinière d'où sont sortis la plupart des lithographes qui se sont distingués dans leur art et qui n'ont pas peu contribué à faire faire de nombreux progrès à la lithographie." (Langlumé). Ouvrage illustré de 4 planches. 3 sont en lithographie. La quatrième est un portrait du médecin Tissot gravé sur cuivre. Il est ici seulement inséré dans le volume et il est plus petit que les autres gravures. Ce portrait a été ajouté dans tous les exemplaires de cette brochure pour une raison qui nous échappe car le texte n'y fait pas référence. Exemplaire tel que paru, bien complet de la page notée 1 bis, dans son brochage d'origine. Le dos du brochage est manquant.
