This 5.875 x 9.5 inch, 51 page hardcover book is the 1960 edition of this title by Taylor & Taylor for the Book Club of California. This copy is in near fine condition with only a touch of wear showing to the bottom edges of the paper-covered boards. The marbled-pattern for the paper covered boards is clean but with just a touch of wear to the fore-edges of the cover. The green back-strip with gilt lettering on the spine is 'As New' and the interior text block is in at least near fine condition. This copy includes the prospectus laid-in loosely. This title comes from the manuscript copy by Swan in the Bancroft Library and gives an account of Swan's California experiences as a store-keeper and resident of the Monterey area and his periodic efforts to mine in several areas of the early California gold fields. 51 pages.
