Early calf-backed marbled paper boards. Small octavo. 236pp. Engraved frontis portrait of the author. The author was a diplomat of the Reign of the Two Sicilies. He was involved in the escape of Mrs Spencer Smith from Venice in 1806 which this book gives an account of. A worn copy with heavy scuffing to the board covers and rubbing to the spine. The cover lacks a small piece with wood showing through and the spine lacks a small piece at the bottom. The text is worn though in good condition with some staining to the upper margin of some of the pages and some scattered foxing and spotting (occasionally heavy). A 1833 ownership signature appears on the flyleaf and page after as well as in the margin of two of the book's pages. Scarce. Seller Inventory # 10881
