Hardback, approx 9.5 x 6 inches. Halfbound calf leather fine binding, light brown cloth to boards with gilt line edging. Raised banding and gilt decorations to spine. Marbled endpapers and speckled page edges. In very good condition. Chips to spine labels and top end of spine. Some minor darkening to top edges. Bookplate to front endpaper ?Ellen O?Neil Duncan.? A couple of minor foxing spots else pages and plates all very clean , bright and tight, beautifully hand coloured illustrations, bright and vivid. ?Still a nice fresh and well-margined copy.? Tooley 434. v + 319pp. Illustrated with 20 full page coloured engraved plates by Charles Williams & others. Much of the best of the Syntax piracies disavowed by Combe.
