About this Item

Meta Mayne Reid (1905-1991), was a British novelist. Born in Yorkshire, England, of Irish descent, she spent most of her life in Northern Ireland, which provided the setting for the majority of her children's books. From the dustjacket: "Tiffany, who was not supposed to go with the children on holiday, and so nearly didn't, who looked like losing more situations than she saved, who won her way even to the cat-disliking heart of Miss Sarah through her spirited battle with a troupe of donkeys -- this Tiffany is a Cat. A very special cat with a knowledge of magic and a superior feline commonsense, so anybody who was read Craigmore Castle (the predecessor to this novel) will tell you. And the Swallow Rhyme? That is a clue to the riddle of the curious 'Bird-Man' and the strange business that the children find going on at the new reservoir." Hardcover with dustjacket, 182 pages with several lovely full page b/w illustrations by Richard Kennedy; size 5 1/2" x 8". Good condition ex library copy with standard markings in places, general overall moderate wear; front endpage has been neatly removed. No prior owner handwriting or text marking. No Smoke or other unpleasant odor. [4853-a6236am] Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Bookseller Inventory # 004853
