About this Item
This VG+ quality book was copyrighted in 1894 and published by Laird & Lee; it is 8" tall with 259 numbered pages of text followed by 4 unnumbered pages of ads; it is clearly a later printing, perhaps 1930's (?). This book--tan cloth with title and author in red on the spine and the publisher and 'The Standard Series" in green, with green artwork showing two profiles at the top and a flower-like design in the lower half of the spine; front has figure of a boy waif, in red & tan against red (top) & green (bottom) background blocks and the title in green with the red block as its background--is square, free of edge dings with all four corners lightly bumped; the head and heel of the spine are also bumped with only a slight amount of damage. The bottom edges have virtually no wear but both bottom corners have the color worn off. The spine is lightly soiled but the lettering and image are intact. The front panel illustration is very clean and free of damage. Except for a penciled gift inscription on the FFEP, the interior is free of writing, stray marks, stains of any sort and page damage of any type. The hinges are quite strong and not damage in any way. The text paper is modestly toned and is quite flexible and not at all brittle. The frontis is on coated paper and it is clean and intact; there are numerous partial-page line drawings on plain paper. The book has no remainder mark and is not a former library book.
