This is a lovely 1st Edition/1st Printing of this beautifully-written romance, set amongst an 18th-century colony of German mystics who lived near the town of Ephrata, in northern Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Though the characters and the story are fictional, the community that it describes was very real and was well-described in the book "The German Sectarians of Pennsylvania" by Julius Friedrich Sachse, from which the author of this book derived the details that make his story come to life. This 1st printing is square, solid, and tight. The interior is absolutely spotless and although the dust jacket is no longer present, the book's exterior is also extremely clean with just a few faint and tiny marks. None of the corners are bumped and there is just a hint of rub wear to the lower edges and near the bottom of the spine. There is also a two-inch stretch of the gutter between front cover and spine that is slightly discolored as from exposure to sunlight. Anyone of German extraction will find this volume fascinating as it deals with the tens of thousands of German-speaking immigrants that flooded into Pennsylvania during this period. Will be bubble-wrapped and shipped in a box to insure safe delivery. Bookseller Inventory # ABH118
