About this Item
There is not much published on the Swedish Antarctic expedition under Nordenskjold, which was one of three loosely coordinated national expeditions that resulted from the 1895 International Geographical Congress. The Swedish established proof of the geological connections between South America and northern Graham Land for the first time. They endured tremendous privations, losing their relief ship, and were forced to winter over, separated into three parties who were unable to communicate with each other. All parties on the expedition survived. 8vo, extracted from the Smithsonian Report for 1904. Disbound, pp467-479 with b&w map. Seller Inventory # 24254
