Publication Date: 1931

Original script in a large protective folder. 156pp. Pages are fragile and have chips and a piece missing from the first page corner. Laid in is a photocopy of some of the pages. Handwritten on the first page is the title "Billy the Kid." The script is for '"Sure Fire": Episodes in the Life of Billy the Kid', a play in four acts produced twice in Santa Fe by the Santa Fe Players in 1931. Dykes, in his Kid Bibliography, states that "not a single copy has been located." Weigle, in Santa Fe and Taos, provides a reproduction of the handbill on page 156, a copy of which is pasted on the front of the folder. The script is mimeographed on browned paper, with hand corrections throughout. This early work of Stevenson may be a unique copy. No copies in OCLC/Worldcat. Stevenson was later nominated for an Oscar for the screenplay of The Story of G.I. Joe, and was blacklisted in Hollywood after World War II. Size: Folio - over 12" - 15" tall.
