1884. Fifth edition. [vii], 106pp., a folding map, 3 pages of reviews of the work, and 10 pages of advertisements. Strathpeffer is a Victorian spa town surrounded by wooded hills, situated 5 miles west of Dingwall. During its heyday, Strathpeffer was a renowned European health resort. This is a revised and expanded edition of the first edition of 1869, that was itself based on an pamphlet on Strathpeffer Spa that was published for the medical profession. It has been made intelligible to the non-medical mind, and also includes various walks and drives in the area. The book is bound in the original maroon cloth covered boards with gold titling on the front board. The case of the book is in very good condition with shelf wear and some light soiling on the boards. The spine is noticeably faded and the spine ends are bumped with a split of about 1/4" in the cloth on the top of the front spine edge. The contents are tight and clean with slight browning to the title-page and some foxing on the fore edge of the text block. On a few pages the foxing has seeped a little way into the fore margin.
