Foolscap 8vo. 38 (of 39) volumes. (Lacks Santiago de Compostela.) 28 volumes are first editions. Original blue grey cloth, gilt. Top edges gilt (or stained blue), others untrimmed. Illustrations, folding maps and plans. General wear and tear including pushing to some corner tips and spine ends, with some fraying to a few spine ends. Some covers a bit dulled or with a few small stains or marks. Most front endpapers have neat ink ownerships or bookplates. Seville retains its d/w which has some chips to the top and bottom edges. Very good to near fine. A nice set, lacking the very scarce Santiago de Compostela (1912), of Dent's Mediĉval Towns Series. Published between 1898 and 1933, they form a fascinating collection of companions to to these towns and cities. 'They are guide-books, books for study, and books for reference, and at the same time little galleries of art', Illustrated London News. Seller Inventory # 8196
