Most illustrations are of underwear and lingerie, including the first (?) onesie aka the Sanitary combination , petticoats, corsets, suspender belts. London: Waterlow & Sons. In 1884, Lewis Tomalin opened a clothing store in London, named Dr Jaeger's Sanitary Woollen System. Gustav Jäger (1832 1917) was a German naturalist and health expert. He advocated using simple wool textiles next to the skin, rather than plant fibres, as being better for health by allowing for easier evaporation of sweat.
