A flyer advertising a fundraising event for imprisoned black activists in Chicago at the Episcopal Church of Epiphany at 201 South Ashland Ave. The speaker was Harabu Tafadhali Himiya author of the book Genocide and donations were to be used in behalf of a wide selection of imprisoned black militants, including disgraced Chicago alderman Fred Hubbard, who disappeared with $100,000 of funds from the Chicago Plan, a program to promote minority employment in the construction industry, to support his gambling habits (Hubbard was later arrested for propositioning a 13-year-old girl at a Chicago school where he substituted under a fake identity); Imari Obadelle, the leader of the black separatist group the Republic of New Afrika arrested for the murder of a Mississippi police officer during a shootout with RNA separatists; H. Rap Brown, the famed black militant imprisoned in 1971 following a shootout with NYC police officers; Chiri Ruwa, president of United Africans for One Motherland International; and nine members of De Mau Mau, a primarily consisting of a group of black Vietnam Vets accused of murdering nine whites in a series of racialist killings. Money was also to be used for health funds for Chicago boxer Ezzard Charles, who was suffering from ALS (Charles died in 1975). Offset printed on an 11" x 8 ½" sheet of white stock. A Fine copy.
