About the Book

Bibliographic Details

Title: Sparks from the Campfire: Tales of the Old ...

Publisher: Philadelphia: Keystone Publishing Co. 1892, Philadelphia

Publication Date: 1892

Binding: Hard Cover

Book Condition: Fine

Dust Jacket Condition: No Jacket

Edition: Revised Edition.

Hard Cover. Fine/No Jacket. 6 x 9". Clean, bright, red library binding with titles in white on spine; gilt top edge; frontispiece; tissue-guard; illustrated with engravings. Binding is very well done, with new endpapers. Previous owner's inked inscription (dated 1892) to original front free endpaper; tissue-guard has some mild creasing, and a sliver of the bottom corner is missing; one interior page has a one-inch closed tear to margin, edges very slightly toned, else interior is clean and tight with no defects. Although this has been rebound in library binding, it has no other signs of being an ex-library book--no stamps, pockets, or other blights. Billed as "Thrilling Stories of Heroic Deeds, Brave Encounters, Desperate Battles, Bold Achievements, Reckless Daring, Lofty Patriotism, Terrible Suffering, and Wondrous Fortitude," this is a collection of reminiscences about the Civil War, including Union Veterans on specific battles, army life, prisons such as Belle Isle, Libby, Salisbury, and Andersonville, and even poetry. 623 pages, profusely illustrated with black and white engravings. This is the "new and revised edition" published in 1892. Size: 6 x 9". Bookseller Inventory # 001229
