Near Fine. Kerner (1887-1956) was a Professor of Modern European History at UC Berkeley, andiIn 1948 he organized and became Director of the Institute of Slavic Studies. He received his Ph.D. from Harvard in 1914, under the tutelage of Archibald Cary Coolidge. He also studied in Vienna, Berlin, Moscow, and Paris. As a member of the Colonel House Commission inquiring into the terms of peace, he participated from 1917 to 1919 in the deliberations in Paris that led to the establishment of an independent Czechoslovakia. A valuable resource for scholars and historians. Navy blue cloth with gilt titling on spine. Mild rubbing/toning to gilt. Binding is very well preserved, showing only very mild rubbing at front bottom right corner. Mild foxing to top of text block.
