First illustrated edition hardcover, bound in blue cloth, with gilt lettering on front cover, and faded gilt lettering and decoration on spine, is in Fair condition, having a crease at bottom right corner where book corner had been bent; some rubbing/scuffing and faint staining to covers; slight slant to spine; corners bumped and worn; some moderate edge-wear to covers and spine; some shaking to volume, especially in early sections; staining at bottom of join between the frontispiece and title page, and this radiates out for a few pages; some handling wear to pages, and some light rubbing to pages.
