HB/none, VG, 336 pp., Merrill's English Texts; rubbing wear at top & bottom & side of spine, bottom edges of boards & four corners, one small 1/4" tear per bottom spine corner, previous student's name and study hall written on FFep, four small stains on rear board of 3/16" or less (faded black on blue), few page have corner turned down and pressed back out. Book is blue cloth with black lettering. Includes text, critical and historical introduction, sketch and life of author, critical opinions of the work, ample explanatory notes, and photo of George Eliot, who is a woman.
