An edition of historical significance, being from the Romm press which was the first to standardise the Talmud, its pagination and even its font (known as Vilna font). Letter-press printing.On the blank last page of the first volume an owner, probably first owner, provides, in Hebrew, in a very neat hand, the names of each of six children born to him from 1856 to 1868. The dates are provided both in the Jewish calendar and the Gregorian calendar. On the back blank paste down of the second volume he notes the death of his both his parents, a few months apart, in 1880. Seller Inventory # 005060
