About this Item
1765 Hebrew SEFER Ohel Mosheh Zalkva UKRAINE Zhovkva Zvi Hirsh Commentary Jewish A rare 18th-century Hebrew printing of the Sefer Ohel Mosheh published in Zalkva, Ukraine. This exceedingly rare edition of Hebrew scripture text includes notes and commentary by Zalkva Rabbi Moshe Ben-Zvi Hirsh. More commonly known as Zhovkva today, Zalkva housed an important Jewish printing house from which this sefer was published. This particular sefer discusses the use of Hebrew language and grammar in conjunction with scripture. Worth noting, the town of Zalkva was under Nazi occupation during World War II, and nearly all of the 4500 Jewish residents were sentenced to extermination camps and the Jewish synagogue was destroyed.
